Hey was trying to do one a month but kinda been a bit too busy as ever – heres a nice xmasy (ha not at all xcept its pretty dark!) mix for the winter season. A bit of old bbc workshop stuff by the ever fantastic delia derbishire to start things off followed by some strange subdued electronics from dictaphone and murcof before we step into the techie stuff I’m loving anything by minilogue right now- and also am enjoying the Floyd sample in tigerskin’s Peters Secret weapon – real handy record to have in your box.

I’ve been getting back into trentmoller of late (after leaving my portable drive with all my tunes on it i’ve been left with radioheads in rainbows and both Boards of canada and trentmoller’s back catalogues so not all bad) – been just loving “The Last Resort” minimal enough but sooo beautiful I emplore you to go back and get this album – perfect for late night listening or keeping you going in the wind and the rain – Anders Trentemoller has got a new album of selected tunes and remixes out now too which is pretty good

This is a bit of a haloween special here a nice disturbing set of SCARY samples on this wonderful Mogwai-esque number from a french band who are fast becoming my top listen of the moment (just check my last FM page to see how much I’ve been indulging!) – this track is off of the 2005 album Before the Dawn Heals Us- however the amaazing new album Digital Shades Volume 1 is out now on Goom/Mute.

Well you might have been getting a bit bored of the Umpha umpha mixes I’ve been posting and some have been begging for something a little more leftfeild and abstract so after a weekend of sleep broght on after a week of Brighton Live I’ve put together a mix of some of the crazier more downtempo music I’ve been listening to. Spreading from folk to electronica I hope Its one you’ll all get some enjoyment from! Its been a great week by the way and 22 bands later I finally fell asleep (unfortunately on Friday night when I should have been Dj’ing Stu’s party sorry fella!). Ones to check are (in my Personal order of preference): A Scandal in Bohemia (Mum like lovelyness), Transformer (talking heads meets hotchip), Shoana Foster (Indescribable pin-drop wonder A Must see), Diamond Family Archive (great guitar folkieness), My Federation (Super harmonic indie rock!), Gloria Cycles (Loved these since the OFR days), Southern Suspects (Uk hip-hop – nowt too original but great to see), We are Snazzy (shame about the sound girls!), and finally as a good bit of fun Los Piratas (accordian south american wonder). I must also apologise to all those folk who I recomended staying to see Maths Class – what a crock of sh*t – this bunch of haircuts should be avoided at all cost.

Found this little ravey gem floating around the internet -Dont know too much about it and it doesnt particularly go anywhere, but boy it would get me dancing and grimacing on a saturday night – if angry robots were really allowed to make a parisian dance record I think this would be it – distorted sucking hats and more cut up than an ex crying in her milk this beast is evil – and I love it.
